Mission Story - April 2015

VillageMED and our medical team have returned from an insightful and productive trip to Haiti. As was evident from our smooth arrival at Port au Prince International Airport, Haiti is making tremendous progress from the devastating earthquake of 2010. New hotels, restaurants, neat beaches, and well stocked stores indicate that the hopelessness of that tragedy are behind some of its people.

However - even with these gains, some of Haiti’s citizens remain entrenched in the urban decay from centuries of neglect. Despite this, we were warmly greeted by loving parents and a dedicated community partner who wanted the best for their babies.

Through our Haiti’s Healthy Child Project, VillageMED wrapped quality pediatric care around these delightful children in Carrefour, Haiti. Working from the humble church of our partner Apostolic Faith, our medical team provided treatment and/or consultations on a range of health concerns facing children living in unsanitary conditions.

We conclude our visit to Haiti, with a trip to visit the orphans of LaConcorde Orphanage and School in Jacmel.
